Development Methodology and Techniques Used

Because there is currently no specific development methodology for delivering directory based Information Systems, the Waterfall Method and particularly Royce’s Final Model was chosen primarily for its structured approach, despite the fact that it comes under heavy criticism in some literature.

Due to the complexity of the proposed system, the feedback between the stages of the Waterfall Model is essential to the success of this project. This report’s structure has been adapted to reflect the development stages of this method.

The attempt to use the Waterfall Model is to investigate wheter traditional structured development methodologies can be applied for the delivery of a complex management system which involves data and network services under a centralised management console. This is partially what is known as a Control Panel in the web hosting industry.
